The effect of communicative purpose and reading medium on pauses during different phases of the textualization process

چکیده
Abstract Multiple factors simultaneously interact during the writing process. The effect of these interacting must be considered if is studied as a dynamic and complex process that constantly changes. Based on premise, study aims to determine how interaction between reading medium communicative purpose task affects pauses different stages At same time, it seeks this related writer's competence. Using 2-by-2 experimental design, undergraduate students (n = 66) read documents (print or digital format) completed computer-embedded with purposes (to persuade inform). While writing, pauses-related keystrokes were recorded. results show neither nor two variables affect pauses. However, interacts process, so regardless participants' competence, they took longer at end when was persuade. Other interactions indicated type pause differentially stage purpose. These main effects systematically competence; because once statistically controlled, no significant. are analysed in terms cognitive processes underlying pauses, considering evidence from studies hybrid reading-writing integrated studies.
